To accompany your Technique Instructional DVD/VHS, you will receive a Technique Manual which details all technical skills and exercises so that you have all material to refer to in written form. This is a convenient way of quickly being able to access technique information during rehearsal time.
Our Technique Manuals are extremely comprehensive and customized to fit the needs of your team. Each manual is divided into multiple sections – each section dedicated to a specific technical dance skill. All sections are laid out in the same manner:
- Skill’s Introduction
- This contains the phonetic pronunciation of the terminology, the definition of the terminology and the “prerequisites” for the element. For example, before any dancer begins to learn and master a single pirouette, the dancer must first comprehend the fundamentals of basic body alignment, plié, relevé, tendu, dégagé, passé, and knowledge of spotting. Not only does the Technique Manual provide all of this information for each skill, but we here at BPDS have taken great care to ensure that both your Technique Instructional DVD/VHS and your Technique Manual are developed with a solid curriculum. Therefore, the skills are taught through both the video and the manual in the correct order, taking out all of the guesswork for the coach regarding organizing lessons and exercises in relation to their prerequisite information.
- Skill Instruction
- This information provides detailed notes on how to execute the element from start to finish on both the right and left sides. For each part of the element, helpful coaching hints are provided.
- Points of Focus
- The Points of Focus we will provide you detail the “right and wrong” ways to execute each skill. These Points of Focus are derived from common errors made by dancers when learning the particular skill. These Points of Focus will help your dancers not only learn the elements, but master them!
- Exercises
- Your Technique Manual will provide you with count by count detailed notes for each of the beginner, intermediate, and advanced exercises (both right and left sides) taught on your Technique Instructional DVD/VHS. For each part of the exercise, helpful hints are provided.
