Comprehensive Team Warm-Up

  • A comprehensive team warm-up is an option you can choose to add on to any BPDS Package you select. Your dancers' warm-up will be approximately thirty minutes in length, incorporating stretching, strength training, and technical warm-up exercises.
  • Having an appropriate warm-up to use throughout the season is crucially important to the success of your team for several reasons:
  • Incorporating a well choreographed warm-up into every rehearsal is essential for the growth of your dancers.
  • Warm-ups serve a primary purpose of bringing your dancers together at the beginning of a rehearsal to focus.  It provides a time for them to mentally transition from individuals in their daily life to dancers ready for a productive rehearsal.  Giving them this time allows them to be “ready to go” when warm-up is over and it is time to rehearse.
  • Basic technical elements are incorporated into well choreographed warm-ups.  Items such as pliés, relevés, tendus, dégagés, passés, and balances are all essential parts of a warm-up that prepare the dancer for turns, leaps, kicks, and other technical skills throughout their rehearsal.
  • A basic purpose of any warm-up is to increase the flexibility and strength of the dancer.  Not only does this help your dancers overall to grow, improve, and become more competitive, but it fuels the personal growth of the dancer, enabling them to better themselves exponentially.
  • With two main focuses of a warm-up being improving technique and increasing flexibility, the safety of the dancer is also being promoted.  On an individual level, this helps to keep the dancer healthy.  From the team’s perspective, this greatly decreases the risk of an individual dancer suffering from injury and having to sit out of rehearsal/performance for an indefinite amount of time (which weakens the overall efforts of the group).

You will receive two CDs of the warm-up music, two copies of the Warm-Up Instructional DVD/VHS, and two copies of the Warm-Up Notebook. This notebook will be dedicated to providing written instruction of the complete warm-up – eight count by eight count detail of the warm-up choreography accompanied with “Helpful Hints” (things to remember for the dancers to maximize their benefits gained through the warm-up – technical improvement and increased flexibility).  This written instruction will serve as a reference to help the dancers retain their memory of the warm-up choreography throughout the entire year, even if the dancers’ season spans summer/holiday breaks.
